KPV – 10MG

KPV is a tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) corresponding to the C-terminal fragment, positions 11 to 13, of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). First identified through a 1988 patent on anti-inflammatory α-MSH-derived peptides, it has since become one of the more studied minimal-sequence fragments in melanocortin research.

Each vial ships with 10mg of KPV in lyophilized powder form for reconstitution, sealed for research use, backed by Phantom Peptides’ internal verification standard: independent third-party lab analysis.

Product Specifications

  • Compound: KPV
  • Class: Melanocortin-derived tripeptide (α-MSH fragment)
  • Sequence: Lys-Pro-Val
  • Molecular Weight: ~342.4 Da
  • Form: Lyophilized powder (for reconstitution)
  • Bottle Size: 10mg per vial

Research Background

The existing literature on KPV spans a handful of distinct research threads:

  • Anti-inflammatory and cytokine modulation research: cell and animal studies examining KPV’s inhibition of NF-kB activation and its effect on pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-1beta) and anti-inflammatory mediators (IL-10)

KPV was discovered by James Lipton’s group and later characterized pharmacologically by Luger, Brzoska, and colleagues through the 2000s, work that established it as the smallest active fragment carrying α-MSH’s anti-inflammatory pharmacophore. For primary sources, PubMed (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) and NIH’s PMC database (pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) index the peer reviewed literature on KPV and related melanocortin peptide research.
